Herbs for Pregnancy and Postpartum

One of the basic safety considerations most asked by herbalists is the question of herbal safety for pregnant folks. The first part of the class will look at 3 different approaches to the question of herbal safety in pregnancy. Students will leave class with an understanding of herbs that they can use during pregnancy as well as understanding when to consider using herbs that may carry some risk and what these risks entail.

The second part of the class will discuss herbal approaches commonly used by midwives, birth workers & pregnant folks as well as herbs used for common discomforts and issues that arise during pregnancy, herbs used during birth and labor and herbs for the postpartum. Students will have the opportunity to direct discussion to issues that they are personally interested in or have encountered while working with pregnant and postpartum clients. An herbal tea will be provided to enjoy during the class.
