Looking to further your skills and education? Take a look at these resources from amazing herbalists in our wider community.
Northeast School of Botanical Medicine
Alex’s first official teacher, who started the Ithaca Free Clinic, which is still going after 20 years; it is an integrative clinic with other practitioners, including MDs, RNs, and others. He has extensive online information and resources. The school I took is one that takes on 4 apprentices a year, who observe and shadow him in clinic.
Terra Sylva School of Botanical Medicine
Amazing herbalists who is radically aware and have good clinical skills. The Terra Sylva School of Botanical Medicine offers online and in-person education from our home in Marshall, North Carolina, in the Southern Appalachian Mountains.
Southwest School of Botanical Medicine
Michael Moore was an incredible clinical herbalist from the Southwest who taught many of my teachers and helped create amazing herbal practitioners. After his passing, his students ensured his vast knowledge of plants and clinical work stayed online. There are also lots of free resources. Greta continues to offer free pop-up clinics and mentors herb school graduates in Humboldt, as she is part of the Humboldt herbal guild.
Herbal Constituents
Lisa Ganora, who wrote many books, including Herbal Constituents, offers many online offerings and mentorships. Some of my friends who graduated from 7Song also teach for her. Quality information.

Other programs are available, including some that offer a BS, like the herbal science program from Bastyr. You can also earn a master’s degree from the Maryland University of Integrative Health, formerly Tai Sophia (that is all online now as well).
