At Bloodroot Apothecary, our commitment to radical community care extends beyond the walls of our shop. Through our Herbal Mutual Aid initiative, we partner with the Washtenaw County warming centers to provide free, accessible herbal remedies to those most impacted by housing insecurity and systemic barriers to care. Together with our community, we handcraft and distribute herbal products like immune-supporting teas, respiratory syrups, pain-relief salves, and wound care kits. These offerings are shared seasonally with warming shelters and community hubs, ensuring that those living outdoors or in transitional housing have access to natural support for common ailments. This work is rooted in solidarity, not charity. We believe everyone deserves access to plant medicine, and we strive to meet people where they are—with respect, dignity, and care. By building local partnerships and inviting volunteers to participate in mutual aid packaging events, we continue the tradition of herbalism as a community-centered, people-powered practice.
