These Aren’t Just Tea Blends—They’re Formulas I Use in Clinical Practice
Many of the blends in our shop aren’t new—they’ve been my go-to formulas for years in my clinical practice. These are the very same herbs I’ve turned to again and again to support clients through immune crashes, digestion issues, pain, and recovery.
When I created these blends, I didn’t just aim for flavor. I designed them to be clinically effective, versatile, and easy to integrate into daily life—whether that’s through a strong infusion, a dropperful of tincture, or a spoonful of medicinal honey.
I’ve already done the heavy lifting for you:
🌿 Choosing which herbs are safe and effective together
🌿 Balancing taste with function
🌿 Sourcing fresh, potent, whole plant ingredients
🌿 And creating formulas that work with the rhythms of your real life
So instead of wondering, Which herbs do I use for this? or How do I prepare that?, you can start with blends that are already tried-and-true—just waiting for you to bring them to life in your own kitchen.
At Bloodroot Apothecary, we believe herbal medicine should be both practical and pleasurable. Our small-batch tea blends are made with raw, whole herbs grown, wildcrafted, or sourced from trusted U.S. farmers—and they’re more than just steep-worthy.
Because our teas are free from additives and full of potent plant medicine, you can use them in a variety of creative ways to build your own home apothecary. Here are four of our favorite DIY methods to transform your teas into powerful, everyday remedies:
1. Make a Quick Herbal Tincture
If you're looking for something fast-acting and shelf-stable, tinctures are your go-to. They extract the medicinal compounds of herbs using alcohol (or glycerin), and can be taken by the dropperful as needed.
How to do it:
-
Add 1 part of your chosen tea blend (like Surrender for nervous system support or The Mender for immune care) to a clean glass jar.
-
Cover with 2 parts high-proof alcohol (like everclear).
-
Let it sit in a cool, dark place for 4–6 weeks, shaking occasionally.
-
Strain, bottle, and label.
Now you have a pre-dosed remedy you can keep in your bag or bathroom cabinet!
2. Craft an Infused Herbal Honey
Infused honey is sweet medicine — soothing to the throat, rich with herbal constituents, and delicious stirred into tea or drizzled on toast.
To make it:
-
Fill a jar 1/3 to 1/2 full with your tea blend.
-
Pour raw honey over to cover completely.
-
Let it infuse on a sunny windowsill for 2 weeks.
-
Warm gently using a double boiler, strain out the herbs, and store.
Try this with The Mender to create an immune-loving honey that’s perfect for cold season (or daily support).
3. Freeze Herbal Ice Cubes for Summer Hydration
Herbal ice cubes are a beautiful, functional way to stay cool and hydrated while delivering gentle medicine into your water all summer long.
How to make them:
-
Brew a strong tea infusion (double the herbs you normally use).
-
Let it cool, then pour into ice cube trays and freeze.
-
Drop into water, lemonade, or even cocktails.
We love using Liver Love or Surrender for cooling, detox-supporting cubes that turn plain water into an herbal ritual.
4. Make Tea-sicles (Herbal Popsicles for the Whole Family)
Herbal popsicles are a fun way to get plant medicine into kids (and adults) without fuss. Great for sore throats, fevers, or hot summer days.
How to do it:
-
Brew a flavorful tea blend like The Soother or The Steward
-
Add a little honey or fruit juice if desired
-
Pour into popsicle molds and freeze.
These make herbal care deliciously accessible—especially for little ones.
